The International Rover Meeting 2017 is going to take place in and around Brno, the center of the South Moravian Region. Brno is the second largest city of the Czech Republic and the center of Czech judiciary since it hosts the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court, and other important authorities. The main dominants of the city (granted city privileges in 1243) are the Spielberg castle, and the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, both built in 1200s.
Since 1928 there is the Brno Exhibition Center which hosts the International Engineering Fair, Brno Motor Show, and other important trade fairs. The Brno Circuit is a motorsport race track since 1930, famous for annual Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Czech Republic. The Zbrojovka Brno is a firearm (since 1925), vehicle (1924-1936), and tractor (since 1946) manufacturer.
The South Moravian Region is famous for a wide range of Vineyards and various protected nature reserves, such as the Moravian Karst which is a landscape nearby the town of Blansko that consists, besides others, of around 1100 caverns and Macocha Abyss.
During this meeting you will have chance to visit at least the most popular attractions in Brno and South Moravia.
During the afternoon and evening you will arrive at the Vista hotel in Brno, safely park your car(s) and accommodate in your room. The evening program is free, you can either have a dinner at the hotel and take the rest you deserve after your long journey, or take a public transport to experience the Brno night life in the city center.
In the morning after the breakfast we will have a 30 min trip to a smaller local brewery outside Brno with a guided tour showing us how the Czechs brew their world-wide famous beer. The place includes the brewery museum and various other attractions. After the lunch in an excellent local restaurant we will continue to Lysice, a picturesque small town with baroque chateau. Here you can join a guided tour of the chateau interiors and have a relaxing walk in beautiful chateau garden. An afternoon refreshment will also be available for your pleasure.
On Saturday we expect the most participants to join our meeting. In the early morning we will go to the Moravian Karst, a unique nature landscape reserve to the north of Brno, to ride the Punkva river through the caves on a boat, and climb to the top of Macocha Abyss using the cable car. It can be cold and wet in the caves so don't forget your outdoor shoes and jackets. After the lunch we will drive back to Brno to see the Zetor gallery, an unconventional museum where the traditional manufacturer presents its rich history from 1940s up to the present.
After the breakfast you can either continue visiting any of the Brno attractions (such as the Technical museum, sightseeing in the city center, or visiting the Brno Circuit), or simply start your comfortable, fast and safe way home.
We have chosen the Vista hotel as the base for the whole meeting. The Vista hotel is a four-star luxury hotel located in Brno-Medlánky.
If you are interested, it takes approximately 20 minutes by public transportation to get to the city center for sightseeing or to enjoy the night life.
The accommodation price includes rich buffet breakfast, safe parking for your classic car, wi-fi internet connection, and much more.
Please see the hotel website for more details (available in English, German, Czech and Russian languages).
The meeting capacity is limited due to capabilities of the hotel, brewery, Moravian Karst and other institutions, and there are members invited from more than 10 European countries. Please do not delay your registration!
There are several competitions prepared for both days of the meeting. You can expect to compare your knowledge in a quiz, manual skills, or voting for the most interesting vehicle or a participant coming from the longest distance. Winners will be awarded with valuable rewards.
